Cori joined our No Limits Fitness family in January with our New Year’s 6 Week Challenge and was the winner of the best overall change in body composition!
She shows up to our evening sessions with a positive attitude and works hard.
Cori has achieved several goals and made some impressive strength gains in a relatively short period of time. Check out her story below!
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote?
A: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston Churchill
Q: What are your personal health and fitness goals?
A: I want to lose weight and become stronger than I’ve ever been.
Q: What ONE thing keeps you most focused and motivated to continue to work hard to reach your goals?
A: The thing that keeps me most focused and motivated to continue to work hard on my goals is my son. He has been my biggest cheerleader during my journey. I enjoy sharing my successes with him. It feels great that I can show him what hard work and dedication looks like.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started with us?
A: For many years I battled with my weight. At my heaviest I was 310 lbs. I remember looking in the mirror one day and breaking down into tears because I was so unhappy with my appearance. I felt trapped in a body that I wasn’t supposed to be in. It was that day that I decided to finally make a change and begin working towards a healthier lifestyle.
Over the years, I made small strides in my journey through yo-yo diets and occasional workouts. The problem was consistency. I tried the traditional gym thing but it was so difficult to motivate myself and get the results I wanted. For years, I’d heard about fitness boot camps and always wanted to try it, but never had the courage to make the step.
That was until I was on Facebook one evening in January and came across No Limits Fitness 6 Week Challenge
advertisement. They were offering a cash prize to the “biggest loser”. I thought to myself, “I get a better body, plus cash in my pocket?! Sign me up!!!” After 6 weeks, I ended up being the challenge winner.
Q: How has No Limits Fitness made a difference in your life?
A: No Limits Fitness has made a difference in my life in many ways. Not only have I become physically stronger and more confident, but I’ve also found the mental strength and toughness that was buried deep inside. No Limits has helped me realize that I can do anything that I put my mind to, as long as I give it my all every time. It is such a powerful feeling that honestly can’t be put into words.
Q: What kinds of milestones have you accomplished and what specific results have you achieved so far?
A: I came to No Limits Fitness with the goal of losing weight and getting stronger. I remember my few workouts and how challenging it was to do any of the moves. I had to modify EVERYTHING. I used to use a box or chair for support to do burpees and pushups. I also used the lightest kettlebells and free weights they had. I was determined to get stronger and be able to do the workouts without all the modifications. Now, I can do most of my workouts without modifications. I’ve ditched the chair and box, and can now do a variety of fun burpees on my own. When I started, I couldn’t do a push up at all, even with the modifications. Now, I am able to do push ups successfully. I am also lifting much heavier weights. Even now, during my workouts, I surprise myself with how strong I’ve gotten and how much heavier I’m able to lift.
I was a 2X top size and 16W pant size when I started at No Limits Fitness. Now, I am proud to say that I no longer have to shop in the plus size section. In 6 months, I have lost 40 lbs. I now wear a M/L top size and size 12 pants. It truly feels amazing!
Q: What made you decide to join No Limits Fitness?
A: Truthfully, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I wanted to look in the mirror and feel good about what I saw. I wanted to feel more confident about myself. I wanted to feel stronger. I didn’t want to be unhealthy anymore.
Q: What was the obstacle that almost prevented you from joining?
A: For me, the main obstacle was the cost. I was afraid of investing the money into it, and not being able to stick with it. I decided to do it, and I can say it was one of the best decisions I could have ever made for myself.
Q: What has exceeded your expectations since joining?
A: The atmosphere of the gym and the helpfulness of the trainers has definitely exceeded my expectations. Everyone is so friendly, it feels like more of a gym family. I love the way the people motivate and encourage each other through challenging workouts. It’s so motivating when you see someone right next to you, pushing themselves through their own struggles. The trainers are the best hands down. I always feel like they are there to truly support me through my journey. It feels good to know that they care about my goals and want to see me grow.
Q: What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?
A: DO IT!!! I was that person for many years, until I finally made the change. I doubted myself and whether I could accomplish my goals. I was afraid that I would fail myself once again. I’m so happy that I didn’t allow self-doubt to hold me back. Now, I feel better than I ever have in my life. I know people say it all the time, but if I can do it, so can you! You just have to take that step. Trust me, once you do, a happier, healthier, and stronger you is waiting on the other side. All you have to do is DO IT!!!
