Morris has been with us for several years and has remained very consistent. He brings a positive attitude and solid work ethic with him to every workout which is a benefit to those around him.
Like many other men, Morris had been weight training for years and was comfortable working out alone with his headphones on. He had a healthy level of skepticism for group training but an open mind led to some incredible results.
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote?
A: “Real courage is … when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” – Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird
Q: What are your personal health and fitness goals?
A: To maintain athleticism and lean out.
Q: What ONE thing keeps you most focused and motivated to continue to work hard to reach your goals?
A: Success! I recently started setting small, achievable goals. When I reach a goal, it is very satisfying. That small success motivates me to set the next goal, and the next.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started with us?
A: I’m 45. I started at No Limits about three years ago. Until then, I had always worked out on my own, mostly weight training and cardio machines at a gym. That always worked for me in my 20s and 30s. But as I entered my 40s, I was busier with work and family, and it became increasingly difficult to carve out an hour and a half or two hours to go to the gym. I was also seeing diminishing returns when I did work out, which reduced my motivation. I started to lose lean muscle and put on belly fat. When I received an offer for a free month at No Limits, I was skeptical about class workouts and cross fit. But I decided to give it a try. I was amazed that I could get a full workout in at No Limits in just 45 minutes – stretching, weight training, and cardio. And working out was actually fun again! I was hooked after just a few classes.
Q: How has No Limits Fitness made a difference in your life?
A: No Limits’ combination of trainers, accountability coaching, and health and nutrition guidance has helped me establish healthy habits. Working out and eating healthy is just part of my routine now. I don’t have to think much about it. Before, I had to will myself to hit the gym, or to make healthy food choices. Thanks to No Limits, working out and eating healthy have become my default position, rather than something I have to make myself do.
Q: What kinds of milestones have you accomplished and what specific results have you achieved so far?
A: Within several months of starting at No Limits, I had gained muscle mass, lost fat, and my flexibility improved. I was in good shape, and happy with my results. In January this year, after putting on a little holiday weight, I decided to try a No Limits 6 Week Challenge and really push myself. It was amazing! By sticking to the Challenge meal plan and stepping up my workouts just a little, I went from 17% body fat to 12% body fat in six weeks, while increasing muscle mass. The Challenge is over, but I am still improving thanks to the good habits formed over those six weeks.
Q. What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?
A: If I tell myself that I’ll make a change next week, or next month, or this summer, or just “someday,” there are always reasons to kick the can down the road. Like the song says, “someday never comes.” The best way to make a change is to take the plunge and don’t look back.
Q: What is your “word” of the year?!
A: Challenge.
