Iron Sharpens Iron

The concept of Iron Sharpens Iron is at the core of our belief system at No Limits Fitness.

This is one of the most powerful concepts for improving human performance.

Proverbs 27:17 says “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”.

One of the more famous examples of this in practice can be found in the financial world in the partnership between Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger.

Although each individual is brilliant in his own right, their collaboration significantly enhanced the success of one another.

You may have heard that you’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

If you aren’t familiar with the notion of Crabs In Your Life, this points out the fact that you likely have people in your life that would rather see you remain on their level than continue to grow and improve.

This isn’t necessarily because they want you to fail, these crabs simply feel a certain type of way when you take action and accountability they aren’t prepared to take themselves.

Unfortunately, extracting the crabs from your life may not be that simple.  The crabs in your life may be siblings, parents, a spouse or even one of your closest friends.

When removing the crabs from your life isn’t such an easy solution, you may decide to increase the amount of time you spend with people that inspire you and give you energy.

Spending time with other growth-minded people willing to put in the work will improve the quality of the people influencing your personal character.

This is one of the greatest benefits from belonging to a community such as No Limits Fitness.

In his book Atomic Habits, author James Clear alludes to this concept when wanting to adopt a particular habit.

If you want to be consistent with your mental and / or physical fitness, the single best thing you can do is to join a community of people where this is already the standard behavior.

At first glance, it might seem that joining any gym would be aligning yourself with a community where consistency with fitness is the standard behavior.

Big Box gyms such as Crunch Fitness, Planet Fitness or L.A. Fitness have a business model that is counting on 95% or more of their members NOT being consistent.

The appeal of Big Box gyms is most often price and convenience…neither of which are relevant when you don’t show up.

These gyms often have 10,000 members or more yet begin to have issues with more than 100 people training together…a mere 1% of their member base.

While you can find people training consistently in these facilities, these people are the outliers in this community.

At No Limits Fitness, Iron Sharpens Iron when members hold one another accountable to the standards of the community.

You could argue this happens in your professional life.

However, in the workplace, people are often competing for the same position.

Although you may be spending time around quality individuals, conflicting goals and aspirations don’t always provide the best environment for continued growth.

When you make the decision to join No Limits Fitness, you step into a community where those around you want to see you succeed.

Your growth and accomplishments don’t come at the expense of someone else.

Your involvement and engagement with other members of the gym are what makes this community stronger.

In the pursuit of better health, we’ve helped people forge unbreakable bonds both personally and professionally.
